Leftfield come the duo of electronica artists and record producers, Paul Daley (formerly of A Man Called Adam and the Brand New Heavies) and Neil Barnes formed in 1991 in London, England. A pair were pioneers in the fields of intelligent dance music.
Their downtempo music style hwhen inspired a genre which has been recognised as only leftfield, by owning many stock and index charts appearing inside magazines like DJ magazine and Mixmag. A genre is also referred to as Chill out.
Releases
Leftfield is easily-known to the mainstream UK audience for their track Phat Planet, which soundtracked the "Surfers" TV advertisement for Guinness, ranked #1 inside Channel 4's Top 100 Adverts listings within 2000. It keep close at h& besides freed the series of singles and 2 acclaimed albums prior to breaking higher within 2002 to focus on solo projects.
Leftism
Their 1st major hit was Open Higher, the collaboration by owning John Lydon; soon followed by their debut album, Leftism, in 1995, blending dub, breakbeat and techno especially called Uk-dub.
Rhythm and Stealth
Their 2nd & final album, Rhythm and Stealth (1999) maintained the similar style however sustaining a harder, bleaker techno edge, & featured such creative person when Roots Manuva, Afrika Bambaataa and MC Cheshire Cat from Birmingham. A album was shortlisted for the 2000 Mercury Music Prize.
